On Wednesday, May 27, BuzzFeed officially announced the successful completion of the transaction with Allen Family Digital, an affiliate of Byron Allen's family office. The agreement involved Allen Family Digital acquiring 40 million shares of BuzzFeed common stock at a price of $3 per share, totaling a transaction value of $120 million. The funding comprised $20 million in cash at closing and a $100 million promissory note, maturing in five years with an annual interest rate of 5%. BuzzFeed utilized $12.5 million of the cash proceeds to reduce its existing debt burden.

Byron Allen's Broader Media Endeavors

In a separate, yet related, development, Byron Allen has secured a two-hour nightly comedy slot on CBS. This new programming block has taken over the time slot previously held by “Late Night With Stephen Colbert,” which concluded its run on May 21. Allen's “Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen” now airs in consecutive episodes at 11:35 p.m. on CBS, followed by two episodes of his comedy program, “Funny You Should Ask.”
